GST Reforms 2025: Modi Govt slashes tax rates, common man gets big relief

Introduction

4 September 2025 ko GST Council ne ek historic tax reform announce kiya. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ne kaha ki ab se GST ka system simple aur consumer-friendly banaya gaya hai. Is decision ka direct effect har Indian household par hoga, especially festive season ke pehle.

GST Structure Simplified

👉 Ab GST ke slabs sirf 2 major categories me rahenge – 5% aur 18%.
👉 Ek special 40% slab introduce ki gayi hai luxury aur sin goods ke liye.
👉 Ye nayi rates 22 September 2025 (Navratri ke pehle din) se lagu hongi.

0% GST – Complete Exemption

Health aur life insurance policies (pehle 18% GST lagta tha, ab free)

5% GST – Essentials aur Daily Use Items

Ab shampoo, toothpaste, hair oil, soap, toothbrush, shaving cream jaise daily items sirf 5% GST par milenge.
Saath hi dairy products (butter, ghee, cheese), namkeen, baby diapers, agri tools aur medical kits bhi is slab me aate hain.

18% GST – Middle Class Products

Small cars (petrol/hybrid under limit)

Bikes ≤350cc, three-wheelers

Electronics & appliances: AC, TVs (above 32”), washing machines

Pehle ye 28% me the, ab 18% hone se consumers ko bada relief milega.

40% GST – Luxury & Sin Items

Luxury aur harmful products par tax aur zyada kar diya gaya hai:

Cigarettes, pan masala, gutka, sugary drinks

Luxury motorcycles, yachts, aircraft

Gambling & gaming services
